To help you keep life in focus, CHOC offers you vision coverage through VSP to help pay for eye exams and vision correction.

Overview

You have two options for vision coverage:

  • The VSP Standard is a lower-cost vision plan with higher copays and lower allowances for vision correction materials
  • The VSP Buy-Up has higher benefits, including frames every 12 months and higher allowances for vision correction materials

You can enroll in vision coverage as a new hire, newly eligible for coverage, during Open Enrollment, or if you have a qualifying life event.

How much does vision coverage cost?

You pay for vision coverage through pre-tax premiums from your paycheck. The amount you pay will depend on which plan you choose and whether you cover just yourself or family members, too. You can view your plan costs on the Workday website.

Find a network provider

You can see any vision care provider you want, but you’ll generally pay less by staying in network. Visit the VSP website to find an in-network vision care provider near you.

Save money on vision costs

Use your Health Savings Account (HSA), Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or Health Care FSA to pay for eligible vision expenses with tax-free dollars.

Standard Plan

The VSP Standard is a lower-cost vision plan with higher copays and lower allowances for vision correction materials.

Buy-Up Plan

The VSP Buy-Up has higher benefits, including frames every 12 months and higher allowances for vision correction materials.

Find a Provider

To find an in-network vision provider, visit VSP and click on Find a Doctor. Enter your ZIP code or address, city, and state to find a provider in your area. Or click on Advanced Search to search by the type of provider, products and services, frame brands, hours and scheduling type, gender, or languages spoken. Then click Search and select a doctor or location from the list of VSP providers in your area who meet your search criteria.

When you see an in-network provider, you’ll also have access to additional benefits, including:

  • Diabetic Eyecare Plus Program: Pay a $20 copay for services related to diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration
  • Retinal Screening: Pay no more than a $39 copay for a routine retinal screening as a part of your Well Vision exam
  • Laser Vision Correction: Receive an average of 15% off the regular price or 5% off the promotional price at VSP contracted facilities
  • TruHearing Hearing Aid Discount Program: Benefits include up to three provider visits for fitting, adjustments, and cleanings, 48 free batteries per hearing aid, a three-year manufacturer’s warranty for repairs and one-time loss and damage, and more
