Military Leave
To be eligible for Military leave
- Enlisted in military service and issued a military order to perform service in the Armed Forces of the United States
- Leave length is up to 5 years of unpaid leave
- Will be eligible to be reinstated in the same or comparable position if:
- Provide evidence of satisfactory completion of service
- Apply within 90 days after release from active duty which exceeded 180 days
- Be qualified to fill their former position
To be eligible for Reservist leave
- Enlisted in the Active Reserves and issued order to perform weekly or annual Reserve training
To be eligible for Military Spouse leave
- Must work more than 20 hours per week
- Must have a spouse who is a member of the Armed Forces, National Guard or Military Reserves who has been deployed to a combat zone during a period of military conflict
- Must request leave and provide documentation of the spouse’s deployment leave within at least 2 business days of receiving official notice
- Leave length is up to 10 days of unpaid leave
To be eligible for Service Member Family Leave
- Must have been employed for at least 12 months
- Must have worked at least 1,250 hours of service during the last 12 months
- Are the spouse, child, parent, or next of kin (nearest blood relative) of a Service Member
- The Service Member must be current member of the Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, who, because of a serious injury or illness incurred in the line of duty on active duty, is undergoing medical treatment, recuperation or therapy
- Leave length is up to 26 weeks of unpaid leave in a 12-month period
- Will be eligible to be reinstated in the same or comparable position after leave
To be eligible for Qualifying Exigency Family Leave
- Must have been employed for at least 12 months
- Must have worked at least 1,250 hours of service during the last 12 months
- Have a spouse, son, daughter, or parent who is a member of the Regular Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves and is on active duty or has been ordered to active duty
- Leave length is up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave in a 12-month period
- Will be eligible to be reinstated in the same or comparable position after leave
- Leave must be for:
- Issues due to short notice deployment
- Attending military events
- Childcare activities arising from the Service Member’s active duty
- Care for the Service Member’s disabled parent
- Updating financial and legal arrangements due to active duty
- Counseling as a result of active duty
- R&R leave
- Post deployment activities
